Before You Come To Camp
þ The balance of all camp fees should be paid to the Council Service Center two weeks before coming to camp.
þ One week before camp, merit badge pre-registration sheets are due to the Council Service Center. Mail to the attention of the Summer Camp Director. Or submit it online at http://www.bsaonsc.org/csrreg
þ The camper’s physician and parents/guardians must complete and sign health histories and physical records. Each camper and leader must submit a completed BSA health form to the health officer during check-in.
þ Arrange your transportation. Units should arrive at the camp parking lot around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday; Scouts should arrive at camp with their units. The check-in process is more efficient if the boys arrive at camp with their scoutmaster. Be certain that the vehicles are adequately covered by insurance. Only adult drivers are allowed to transport scouts to camp. Under no circumstances should passengers be allowed to ride in the back of pick-up trucks. Drivers picking scouts up on Saturday should be notified to arrive at the camp parking lot between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. The weekly camp session ends at 9:30 a.m.
þ Inform parents that Thursday is visitors’ evening in camp. Visitors may arrive beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a picnic supper for their family, including the scout. Each scout should know his parents’ plans before he leaves for camp. Food service, in the camp dining hall, will not be available for guests. The evening campfire program begins at 8:00 p.m. Out of council troops may request dinner in the dining hall for boys and adults. This request must be made by Tuesday.
þ Complete your patrol organizational chart. Units not having complete patrols should organize temporary patrols for the camp period.
þ Complete the Troop Attendance Report form included in the appendix of this book. The report must be turned in during Sunday check-in. Keep a copy for your troop records. We determine the number of camp patches based on your troop report.
þ Have your senior patrol leader review this guidebook.
þ Bring your troop and patrol flags. The camp will provide each campsite with a United States flag.
þ Bring any special equipment that may be needed by your patrols or troop, i.e. stunt and campfire program props, lanterns, coolers, and troop libraries.
þ Complete a merit badge application form for each badge that a scout will take during camp. Have them ready to give to scouts on Sunday evening. The merit badge application may be found in the appendix of this book. Scouts should sign up for merit badges that are age appropriate. Scouts should fill out the special program application for C.O.P.E, Climbing,, BSA Lifeguard, Kayaking BSA, Snorkeling BSA, Mile Swim BSA, Cherokee Catfish, and the F.R.O.G.S. Program.
