Medical Services
All first aid treatment is to be given at the health lodge by the
camp medical officer except in case of an emergency. It is the duty of all
leaders and scouts to see that all injuries or illnesses, minor or serious, are
reported to the health lodge. Cases of serious injury or illness should be
reported to the Camp Director. It is important that all treatments take place in
the health lodge, as we must keep a record of all cases treated for insurance
purposes. If a scout becomes sick (cold, flu, virus) at camp, we will send the
scout home. Once well, the scout may return the next week of camp to make up his
missed days at no additional charge as a provisional camper.
A physician is on call 24-hours a day, and area hospitals are only 30 minutes away. Assure parents that proper health service is provided. In case of a minor medical emergency, a scout leader will be asked to transport the scout to one of the local hospitals. This allows the camp health officer to remain in camp should he be needed again.
