Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking has gained in popularity in the recent past. The interest among youth in cycling, in general, influenced the National Council to add Cycling merit badge as an optional merit badge for Eagle Scout.
The mountain biking program at Cherokee Scout Reservation is designed to instruct Scouts in safe trail riding, bike maintenance, trail upkeep, and Scouting values. At the end of the week, Scouts will have earned a partial in Cycling merit badge.
The Mountain Biking program lasts for an entire week. The session meets from 9:00am to 12:00pm. In the afternoon, the Scouts may take other merit badges. Session number is 181.
Bikes are the responsibility of the Scout and are to remain secured in the Scout's campsite when the Scout is not in the mountain biking session. Scouts are not allowed to ride their bikes at anytime but during class.
